Busy Summer for Adversity Boys Athletes
Several Adversity Boys athletes have been active at USA Volleyball Development Camps throughout the country. Allen Adams (Glenbrook South), Nick Barin (Niles North), Sam Graack (Maine West), Mark Hulse (Evanston Township) & Phillip Rogoz (Loyola Academy) were among 50 players selected around the nation to attend this summers USA Volleyball's Kent State University Development Camp.
Ben Nichols (Glenbrook North) was among 50 players who were selected to attend USA Volleyball's Development Camp held in Long Beach California. Ben was the only Adversity player training at Long Beach this summer. His hard work and effort earned him the honor of the camps Most Outstanding Player award. Congratulations Ben.
Teddy Adamczyk (Maine South) and Justin Perkins (Evanston Twp) were invited to USA Volleyball's High Performance Camp in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Teddy and Justin were selected as two of the top 26 players throughout the nation that tried out for the camp. Both players walked away earning honors as Teddy was named the recipient of the Coaches Award for his outstanding contribution while Justin was named the camps Most Improved Player by the coaches. Congratulations to both Teddy and Justin.
Adversity Athletes Prepare for NCAA Volleyball
Seven Adversity athletes are about to depart for their first year of college and their first taste of NCAA Volleyball. We would like to give Simon (Pacific), Marty (UNC Wilmington), Katie (Brown), Liz (Brown), Amy (Cornell), Courtney (Fort Lewis) & Jenny (Emory) our best wishes as they begin their college volleyball careers.

nationals with a 7-3 match record and ended the tournament as one of four Great
Lakes Region teams to win medals at this year's Nationals.

Adversity Boys Finish Strong at Nationals
The Adversity boys 17's were seeded 32nd overall this year in open. The guys started out with a rough day one at nationals but bounced back to finish 17th overall. The Adversity 16's came in as the 20th seed overall. After a tough challenge round on day one the guys were able finish strong coming home 19th. The 18 boys finished 31'st overall in Open.

Congratulations to the Adversity Boys 17's for winning this years AAU National Championships. The guys defeated Addision Boys 17's in two games to bring home the gold medals.

Adversity Girls 18 Smurfs Win 2004 Asics Chicago National Championships
Congratulations to the Adversity Girls 18 Smurfs squad for taking home gold medals. The Girl's ended their season and Adversity Volleyball careers by winning this years 18's division at Asics. Several of these girls have been playing together for Adversity since they were 14's and its great to see them end, as they have always played, as champions. Good luck to Amy (Cornell), Katie (Brown), Marty (UNC Wilmington), Casey, Liz (Brown), Courtney (Ft. Lewis) and Jenny (Emory) next fall as they begin their NCAA Volleyball careers.
Congratulations to all of our Adversity teams as all 10 teams finished in the top half in their divisions with four Adversity teams coming home with medals.

USA Volleyball names Katherine Dykstra to A2 Junior National Team Roster
It's been a very exciting week for Katherine Dykstra (18 Smurfs) as she has been named to this years USA Volleyball's A2 Junior National Squad Roster. The A2 Programs are camps where top 18-36 players, who did not make the National program in a given age group, are brought together to train.
The A2 program's purpose is to expand top-level training to more athletes and to track players who have future potential to make it to the National level. Congratulations to Katherine and best of luck.2004 Great Lakes Regional Qualifier Final Results.....

USA Volleyball Announces Athlete Rosters for Boys National Teams and Camps
The High Performance Department has finalized athlete selections and rosters for the 2004 USA Boys National High Performance Camp, Boys Youth National Team and Mens Junior National Team.
These athletes will represent their country and their sport this July as they train under top USAV Coaching Staffs at one of two Olympic Training Centers. The final travel squad of twelve athletes for both the Boys YNT and the Mens JNT will then travel to the Dominican Republic to compete against other nations from North America, Central America and the Caribbean in an effort to win a bid for the 2005 World Championships in their age group.
6' 6 Middle Blocker Dan Fabry (Maine South) was selected among the top 18 players to train and compete for a roster spot on the 2004 Youth National Team. Congratulations and good luck to Dan this summer.

Parents of Adversity Boys 17-1's & 18-1 squads are encouraged to make their travel arrangements for the upcoming Nittany Ninvitational Tournament held at College Station, PA.

We chartered bus service to State College, PA and back for the tournament. Any parents who would like to travel with the team on the bus will need to inform Steve and/or Mike by Thursday evening, January 8th practice so we can reserve a spot on the bus for you.

US National Men's & Women's Sitting Volleyball Teams Qualify for the 2004 Paralympics Games.
Don't look now, Mike's going off to Greece and we know how much he loves to fly for long periods of time. Congratulations Mike. The women's national team made history by beating Brazil to qualify for the Paralympics in 2004. They are the first women's sitting volleyball team in US History to compete in a paralympic games.

Adversity Alumni named All American
Congratulations to Erin Whitehead for being named NJCAA 1st Team All American in 2003. Erin broke her schools (CLC) single season kill record with 486 kills and helped to lead the Lancers to the Skyway Conference Championship.

Funny thing happened on the way to the finals of the 2nd City Invitational, there was this gas leak. Great job by the guys for dominating the tournament before they had to evacuate the playing site . Don't worry mom, no one was hurt.
