Adversity Volleyball Mission Statement
Adversity Volleyball
is a Non-Profit youth organization founded by Mike Hulett, (USA
Women’s National Sitting Volleyball & USA Volleyball CAP Level
4 Head Coach) in 1997 for boys volleyball players ranging in ages
from 15 to 18 in the north shore suburbs of Chicago. Adversity added
its girls program in 1998 and has now grown to include more than 140
athletes each year. Adversity Volleyball focuses on teaching advance
techniques, as well as providing numerous opportunities for boys
& girls in the north shore.
Adversity trains some of the best high school
players to compete locally, regionally, and nationally in USA
Volleyball and Great Lakes Region sanctioned tournaments. The
program itself is a vehicle for young athletes to improve their
skills and to be seen by college coaches in hopes of being recruited
and receive a college athletic scholarship.
Since our inception in 1997 as a USA Volleyball
Club in the Great Lakes Region, Adversity athletes, boys &
girls, have gone on to compete in NCAA Volleyball at all levels. In
addition, Adversity athletes are widely recognized as several of the
best players in the local high schools earning recognition by local
and national media outlets.
Adversity’s coaching staff is one of the most
consistent and accredited coaching staffs in the area. Adversity's
philosophy is that players learn and develop volleyball skills
faster and easier through game oriented training. At Adversity, the
coaching staff applies that philosophy throughout the season with
competitive practices and an intense tournament schedule. We believe
in less "traditional drilling" and more game situation
training. We believe this gives our athletes a better knowledge for
the game and increases their experience level.
In addition to teaching the skills and instilling
the knowledge of the game of volleyball that NCAA coaches are
looking for, Adversity strives to improve each year, within our
organization by providing up to date information for both players,
college coaches and parents through the use of our web site.
We are proud of our history, our athletes and our
alumni. This is our mission statement.
