Hamming leads long list of Adversity Guys receiving Pioneer Press All Area Honors

 

Lake Forest High's Brian Hamming was named Player of the Year by the Pioneer Press News Paper for the Lake Shore Area.  The 6' 7 senior middle hitter lead Lake Forest to the finals of the IHSA State Championships.  Throughout the course of the season, Hamming finished with 344 Kills and 92 Blocks for Lake Forest High.

Also being named to the first team was Ian Peckler (Vernon Hills High), Bobby Bull (Lake Forest High) and Matt Wiegers (Warren Township High).  

Setter Nick Lazos (Lake Forest High) was named to the Lake Shore Second Team.

Glenbrook South High's Sam Kim lead the list for Pioneer Press North Shore All Area Team.  Kim, who is a finalist for USA Volleyball's Youth National Team, finished the season with 544 Kills in 37 matches, 77 blocks, 65 Aces and 107 digs for the Titans.   Glenbrook North's Mike Reding was named to the North Shore All Area 1st Team.  Reding finished the season with 930 assists along with an IHSA State record recording 68 assists in a match against Niles North High.  Reding has been credited with three matches of 40+ assists.

Pioneer Press also named Adam Hasba (Evanston High), Kevin Moore (New Trier), Joe Pawlikowski (Loyola) and Drew Wehde (Glenbrook South) to the North Shore All Area First Team Squad.  

Pioneer Press Northwest All Area Team named Brian Adamson (Prospect High) and Rob Tupuritis (Maine West) to their First Team.  Tupuritis finished the season 560 Kills and 65 Aces.  Adamson finished his high school season with 468 Kills.  

Congratulations to all of the guys for their All Area Honors.

The Chicago Tribune has listed its All State of Illinois Boys Team.  Glenbrook North's Mike Reding lead all players with first team honors.  The Senior Setter recorded 930 assists for the season and set a new single match IHSA record by recording 68 assists in a match against Niles North High.

Listed on the Tribunes Second Team is Brian Hamming (Lake Forest High), Sam Kim (Glenbrook South) and Rob Turpuritas (Maine West).  The Tribune has given special mention to Middle Hitters Kevin Combs (Evanston Twp High), Tom Hulse (Evanston Twp High) and Joe Pawlikowski (Loyola High), Outside Hitters Adam Hasba (Evanston Twp High) and Ian Peckler (Vernon Hills High).  The Tribune also gave special mention to Setters Nick Lazos (Lake Forest High), Judson Mead (Evanston Twp High) and Kevin Moore (New Trier High).  

Several Guys received All Conference Honors this season.

Central Suburban League - North - Mike Reding (Glenbrook North), Rob Tupuritis (Maine West) and Tony Boun (Maine West)
